FAQ – Endoscope accessories

What is the difference between a camera head and a camera system?

The camera head is mounted on the endoscope’s eyepiece and transmits the image. A camera system additionally includes monitor, controls and storage — everything needed for display and documentation. If you already use a monitor, the camera head is enough; the camera system is the complete single-source solution.

Is the accessory compatible with my existing endoscope?

As a rule, yes. The camera heads are designed for the standardised DIN eyepiece connection used by most rigid endoscopes on the market. The light cables are multi-compatible as well. If in doubt, simply state manufacturer and model — we will check the fit.

Which light source suits my inspection task?

Battery-powered LED light sources suit mobile use, stationary units with higher output suit a fixed inspection station. Insertion depth and diameter decide: the longer and thinner the endoscope, the more light is needed on the way to the tip.

My light cable is defective — do I need an original part?

No. The HIPP light cable is compatible with all common endoscopes on the market and replaces defective light guides regardless of the endoscope manufacturer. No system change is required.

Is repairing accessories worthwhile compared to buying new?

Often yes. Light guides and camera heads are wear parts, and repairing them is considerably cheaper than a new unit. HIPP repairs independently of the manufacturer — including accessories not made by HIPP.
